e132 Interactive Arrangement Workshops
Engaging listeners’ ears, minds, and hearts lies at the core of ensemble132’s vision of chamber music today.
In our arrangement workshops, we invite audiences to be a part of the creative and interpretive process of arrangement – giving a piece new life by reconstructing it for a new setting and instrumentation. In a highly interactive format, e132 musicians take listeners into the architecture of the music they perform, as well as new and never-before-heard arrangements. Participants are invited not only to listen in an even more participatory way, but also to make decisions in real time about how new arrangements are made – determining things like which instrument should play which line, what texture best brings a musical line to life, and how to best convey musical gestures.
Participants walk away from e132 arrangement workshops with a greater understanding of how music operates at a fundamental way and with a sense of creative empowerment. This all comes out of enbsemble132’s belief that audience members are vital collaborators in the chamber music experience, not just passive listeners. After all, in order to reimagine the chamber music landscape, we have to start with the very people for whom we perform.
