After a bit of a break, ensemble132 is starting fresh in 2021. Life is complicated for everyone right now, especially when it comes to performing in the middle of a pandemic. But with new digital setups in place, we're ready to share new programs with you online every month! These will range from informal livestreams to fully-produced online concerts on platforms like Groupmuse. You'll still get to experience e132's signature programs--just from our artists' homes instead of on stage. We can't wait to play for you in person, but until then try to tune in to our upcoming livestream from Sam's home in Boston, and other events to be announced very soon!

This week we're recording a full program for some concert series where we were going to appear before COVID hit. The program explores the personal and artistic ties between one of music history's most beloved trio of friends: Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms. Since these performances aren't yet available to everyone, we thought we'd offer a sneak peek with the above program. All of them already deeply poetic works, we've brought a little e132 personality to Clara Schumann's Three Romances by performing each romance with a different instrumentation. Each of our string players–Zhanbo, Steph, and Zach–chose one romance that resonated with them and they will present them in succession as one whole piece. You'll still hear the second half of Brahms’ tumultuous Piano Quartet in C Minor, which should give us all a little catharsis that may be missing from our daily lives at the moment.
