JANICE CARISSA

Winner of 2018’s Salon de Virtuosi, Janice Carissa is an emerging virtuoso who has performed with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in place of Andre Watts and featured twice with The Philadelphia Orchestra under the batons of Cristina Macelaru and Stephane Deneve. Her success has taken her to renowned stages such as Louis Vuitton Foundation, Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, WQXR’s Green Space, Kennedy Center, and Penderecki Center. 

Deeply devoted to chamber music, Carissa has appeared in prestigious festivals such as Ravinia, Kneisel Hall, North Shore, Caramoor’s Evnin Rising Star, Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth, and was recently admitted to Marlboro Festival. She has collaborated with Vadim Gluzman, Miriam Fried, Pamela Frank, Peter Wiley, David Schiffrin, Lucy Shelton, Mark Kosower, Berlin Philharmonic’s Scharoun Ensemble, and frequently performs with Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players.

The Marguerite and Gerry Lenfest Fellow at Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music is now pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with Gary Graffman and Robert McDonald. Born and raised in Indonesia, Carissa began playing the piano under the sole guidance of her mother.
